'Fraid o' Freyja

is the just-intoned, psychedelic alter-ego of TPG. Every year, the group meets at a bar or night club, makes fresh collaborations with groups from different genres and creates electronic sound shows with found objects and alternate tuning systems.

It's a show designed for deep, mind-altering experiences

2017 show dates - TBA

a durational performance with poet Stephen Ratcliffe

TPG is in a multi-year collaboration with poet Stephen Ratcliffe to create large scale multimedia works, each based on 1,000 of Stephen’s poems, which he writes one at a time for 1,000 days. Performing the poems takes approximately 14 hours, and features Stephen reading each poem, which TPG then interprets as the musical score.

The next performance of this collaboration, Continuum, will feature TPG with performing artists Rae Diamond (composer and director of the Long Tone Choir) and Shinichi Iova-Koga (artistic director of the movement theater ensemble inkBoat). Rae and Shinichi bring unique perspectives to durational creative practice, creating works built upon the exquisite control of breath and body in motion.

The first piece of this collaboration, Human/Nature,  premiered at UC Davis in 2008; the second piece, Remarks on Color/Sound, was staged at Headlands Center for the Arts in 2010. The third work, Temporality, premiered in May 2012 and was remounted in the Mills College Art Gallery in February 2013.

Pacific Exchange

A concert series that brings composers and performers from diverse areas of the Pacific Rim together in order to exchange ideas and create music on a single concert stage. Thingamajigs created this event in 2005, to emphasize the commonalities of artists living on the Pacific Rim, as well as to showcase their diversity.

The concerts have exhibited the music of composers from Japan, Korea, and the United States. The performance group Tov, Megumi Matsuhashi, Jean Ann, Kiyoshi Suzuki, Edward Schocker, Shizuka Takeuchi, Tomoko Sogabe, Akiko Hasegawa, and Niji Ito are just a few of the artists that have been featured by this series.
