AFTER-SCHOOL & IN-SCHOOL MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAM
ages 2-13
Offered in Berkeley, Oakland and other East Bay areas.
Thingamakids Education Program is a unique platform for children to cultivate natural curiosity, grow scientific temper and develop artistic skills through sound discoveries in found objects.
In the school workshops, offered both in-school and after-school, we extend this mission through the following 3-part approach :
Explore : Find everyday objects and study melody, harmony and rhythm through the sounds they produce. This is a prime-focus in all storytelling-based workshops such as the popular Music, Movement & Games.
Create :: Assemble objects and other material to develop unique soundworks or instruments. Students build various soundworks such as Trash Guitar, Bucket Drums, Bamboo Flutes, Wind Chimes and more
Perform :: Collaborate as a musical ensemble to play found sounds and various self-built soundworks. Children form groups and bands, and create performances that incorporate a unique understanding of music and sounds.
